Shepherds of Good Hope - Hope Living Facility

Hope Living.jpg thumbnail

Hope Living, is a three-story supportive housing residence in Kanata run by Shepherds of Good Hope that provides a permanent home for 93 seniors many who were formerly homeless. Most of our Hope Living residents are living with complex mental health challenges and multiple physical disabilities. For many of the residents, Hope Living is their first forever home.   Last spring, due to a flood, the basement of Hope Living was destroyed and rendered unusable. This space had always been a community space where residents could interact with one another, play a game of bingo or cards, and develop a sense of family with their neighbours. Shepherds of Good Hope is currently embarking on a fundraising campaign to raise $65,000 to restore and renovate the basement living space so that our residents can once again share a community space that makes Hope Living a true home.

As one of the largest providers of mental health care in Canada — The Royal is here to transform the lives of people suffering from mental illness with innovative and effective treatments, and to identify new methodologies for prevention and early detection.  Families and friends of individuals with mental illness are impacted in significant ways and need support as well. From learning to recognize and understand symptoms their loved one is experiencing, to knowing where to go to get help, families need and deserve guidance in navigating the health care system. Thanks to generous donations like yours, our social workers will be able to broaden the wonderful support and services they provide to our family members and friends when their loved one needs help.  We are only just beginning this game changing journey here at The Royal and we hope that you will remain by our side along the way. Together we are shifting the landscape of mental health in our community and in Canada.

Youville Centre

Kaitlyn L Pic with Daughter.jpg thumbnail

We are in the process of raising funds to build an additional toddler playroom at Youville Centre. Providing more childcare spaces will allow more moms to access services sooner, reducing the chance of having to be on a waiting list for a spot to open up. We would like to remove this barrier from having our young moms access our services. Though the City of Ottawa has provided partial funding for this project, we are only halfway to our financial goal and need your help to allow us to break ground for this new room in 2020.
